At Ilex Photo, photography is our life. In that it is both – in many cases – a hobby and, in every case, part of our day-to-day work. Which, of course, is brilliant fun. We just spent half the morning ordering our books in order of colour and discussing the correct shade order. to be honest we’re still not sure. Should it be “Red and yellow and pink and Green” or “Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet”.

We also found ourselves unable to answer the question “Why haven’t we done a book with a spine that is the crucial blue-green shade that’d give us a smoother gradation? What were we thinking?”
Anyway, Ilex fans will soon find out why we’ve been arranging our books like this. In the meantime, here are a few more interpretations:

Red and pink and green, with Fashion Photography 101 a bit off spectrum, but we still like this a lot.
James, our Creative Director, set that up, and it looked great, colour wise, but it started to bug me that it didn’t follow the scientific spectrum (which probably says a lot about me). So after a bit of fiddling around:
Any other suggestions? Planet Ilex perhaps?
